Convert an image to pixel art online
ToolWisp Pixel Art Generator converts uploaded photos, illustrations, icons, avatars, screenshots, and other images into blocky retro-style pixel art. The tool downsamples the image, reduces the palette, and scales it back up without smoothing.
You can choose a subtle pixel effect or a chunky 8-bit style, then download the final result as a PNG.

Pixel Art Generator FAQ
How do I turn an image into pixel art?
Upload an image, select a pixel size and color count, then ToolWisp processes the image directly in your browser. You can also enable dithering or a grid before downloading the PNG.
Does ToolWisp upload my image?
No. The image is processed locally inside your browser using HTML canvas.
What pixel size should I use?
Smaller pixel sizes preserve more detail. Larger values create a chunkier retro appearance. Values between about 6 and 20 are a useful starting point for many photos.
What does Color Count do?
Color Count limits the output palette. Fewer colors create a stronger 8-bit or retro-game look, while higher values preserve more of the source image.
What is dithering?
Dithering uses patterns of nearby colors to simulate intermediate shades. It can make limited palettes look more detailed and retro.
Can I download the generated pixel art?
Yes. After the image is processed, click Download PNG to save the pixel art output.
